The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavin shoots in but Chipman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gavin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Chipman throwing a counter right hand but Gavin manages to avoid it.
Gavin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Chipman is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Gavin.
Barnabas Chipman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Gavin.
Gavin misses with a two punch combination.
Chipman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Chipman shoots in for a takedown but Gavin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Gavin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Chipman thinking.
Chipman throws an overhand right that lands on Gavin's shoulder, as Gavin tries to avoid the shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chipman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Gavin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Gavin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chipman's half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gavin is sitting in close to Chipman's body. Chipman has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gavin is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gavin is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Chipman.
