Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Matthew (ranked 2291 p4p, 4360 weight class) and Miroslav Drozd (ranked 270 p4p, 466 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrick Matthew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Miroslav Drozd!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthew avoids the head kick by Drozd.
Drozd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Matthew swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Drozd circles away from the clinch attempt.
Drozd throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Matthew appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Matthew throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A left lands for Matthew.
Drozd looks for the body kick but Matthew saw that one coming.
Drozd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Matthew moves away.
Drozd lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Drozd throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Matthew counters with a crisp right hand that drops Drozd! Matthew lets Drozd back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Drozd is rocked!
It looks like Miroslav Drozd has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Matthew lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Drozd up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Matthew from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Drozd's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Patrick Matthew!
A relieved looking Patrick Matthew thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
