PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brad Olaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chou Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olaf comes to the cage accompanied by Equally Destructive. Chou Rico will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olaf throws a nice looking combination but Rico bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Olaf drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rico is trying to get back to his feet.
Rico struggling a bit here.
Rico sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Rico is trying to stand up here but Olaf is controlling him well.
Olaf trying to control the action but Rico is working from the bottom.
Rico has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Olaf is working away from the top position though.

Rico is looking for a sweep. Olaf is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Olaf tries to bum rush Rico with a series of wild strikes but Rico uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Olaf closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Olaf seems to be working for a kimura but Rico defends the submission attempt.
Olaf is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Olaf does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Rico doesn't manage to clinch there - Olaf circles away.
Rico swats away the attempt to clinch by Olaf.
Olaf takes a kick to the side of the head.

Rico fails to land with a series of punches.
Rico closes this distance looking for a takedown but Olaf circles away.
Olaf throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rico.

Rico scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Olaf pushes Rico off and gets back to his feet.

Olaf gets a clinch.
Rico is trying to break free.
Rico tries to break the clinch but Olaf is controlling the position.
Olaf tries for a takedown. No joy.
Olaf manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Rico ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rico no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Olaf is in close to Rico's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Olaf stands up from Rico's guard - Olaf perhaps looking for a knockout.

Olaf feints and as Rico raises his hands in defense, Olaf changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rico wants to sweep here but Olaf controlling him for the moment.
Rico is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rico is looking to stand up but Olaf isn't so interested in that idea.
Olaf lands a couple of elbows.
Olaf stops Rico from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Olaf dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Olaf tries to clinch up but Rico circles away and keeps his distance.
Oooh a lovely combination from Olaf sends Rico down but not out. Olaf dives into side control looking to finish.

You can see the frustration on Rico's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Olaf has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Olaf tries to clinch up but Rico circles away and keeps his distance.

Rico takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Olaf scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rico to see if he's OK.

Rico tries to bench press Olaf off him but Olaf keeps the position.
Rico seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Olaf in side control lands a decent elbow.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rico is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Rico preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Rico looking to hit a scissor sweep but Olaf is one step ahead there.
Rico is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Olaf decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rico looks for a takedown but Olaf sprawls well.
Rico shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Olaf misses with a few strikes there.
Olaf is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Brad Olaf is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rico misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brad Olaf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chou Rico.

Olaf closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Olaf lands in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Rico tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Olaf swivels and escapes.

so Rico counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Olaf escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rico gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rico postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Rico moves into the clinch.
Rico has Olaf pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Olaf manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Olaf escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Olaf attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Olaf closes the distance but Rico moves to the side

and Rico counters with a nice double leg into side control. Olaf won't be happy with that.

Rico decides to stand back up. Rico steps back and let's Olaf get back to his feet.

Olaf shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Olaf accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rico throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Rico is trying to control the position but Olaf postures up.

Olaf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rico swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brad Olaf is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rico misses with the combination.
Olaf throws a jab when Rico was well out of range.

Olaf shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rico is trying desperately to improve position.

Well Olaf has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
