The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herrera throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bird was covering up waiting for the punch and Herrera finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bird working for a triangle but Herrera defends it easily.
Herrera is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bird keeping moving, preventing Herrera from controlling successfully.
Bird might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bird is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Herrera has his hands clasped together but Bird extends and breaks Herrera's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Bird.
