This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Mike Marsh! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Tony Xi! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Marsh shoots in looking for a takedown. Xi tries to sprawl out of it but Marsh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Xi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fight stays on the outside here - Xi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Xi gets a takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Marsh (0) vs (2) Xi Xi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Xi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marsh wants to control but Xi is keeping busy and won't allow it. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Marsh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Xi on the ground. Xi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Marsh! Score +3 for passing guard: Marsh (0) vs (5) Xi Xi looking to secure an arm triangle but Marsh defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Xi has control of Marsh's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Marsh regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Xi wants to finish this one by submission but Marsh is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Xi. Marsh wants to hold on but Xi pushes him away. Xi controlling the position easily from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marsh tries to get back to half guard but can't. Xi is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Marsh is in real trouble.
Score +3 for taking back: Marsh (0) vs (8) Xi Xi has got one arm under Marsh's chin. This could be trouble... Marsh trying to control the other hand but Xi gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Marsh has tapped out! The fight is over!
