Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mucak Shanikov (ranked 3035 p4p, 1732 weight class) and Uwe Eggert (ranked 388 p4p, 229 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mucak Shanikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Uwe Eggert! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eggert jabs Shanikov right on the nose. Shanikov blinks but takes it well. Shanikov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Eggert throws a hook to the side of Shanikov's head but Shanikov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Eggert lands with a hook. Shanikov tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Shanikov listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Eggert throws a big shot that misses. Eggert throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shanikov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Eggert. Shanikov lands a nice looking body shot.
Eggert just misses with a punch to the body.
Eggert lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shanikov backs up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Shanikov throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Eggert rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shanikov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Eggert misses with a hook. Shanikov drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Eggert connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Eggert misses with a wild combination.
Shanikov pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Eggert back to the cage. Shanikov follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Uwe Eggert has been cut. Shanikov slips a jab and a cross from Eggert.
Shanikov lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shanikov gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Shanikov throws a head punch that misses. Shanikov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Shanikov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Eggert walks away with a smile on his face. Shanikov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Shanikov looks to throw the jab but Eggert is out of range. Shanikov slips under a jab. Shanikov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Eggert.

Shanikov scores with a decent looking hook. Shanikov scores with a jab to the jaw. Eggert throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Eggert throws a body punch but Shanikov moves out of range. Shanikov with the inside leg kick. Eggert bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shanikov's head backwards. Eggert swings widly with a right hand
and Shanikov counters with a stiff right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Oh, that's a big right hand from Shanikov and Eggert goes tumbling to the canvas! Shanikov follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Eggert is rocked! Shanikov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Eggert sees it coming and defends easily. Eggert is still in real trouble! Can Shanikov finish him? Eggert is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Shanikov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Shanikov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Eggert doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shanikov. Eggert seems to have recovered his senses. Shanikov is trying to work for a kimura but Eggert is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shanikov is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Eggert still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Eggert has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Eggert stands up and beckons Shanikov to his feet. Shanikov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Eggert swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight moves into the clinch position. Eggert working hard to break the clinch. Shanikov tries to pull guard but Eggert won't allow it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mucak Shanikov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shanikov keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Eggert's efforts to push away. Shanikov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Eggert smiles and moves away.
Eggert avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Eggert looks to score with a jab to the body but Shanikov is just out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Eggert, as that shot connected.
Eggert lands a nice hook to Shanikov's body. Shanikov takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Eggert lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shanikov missing with a left hand there. Eggert was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Shanikov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Eggert. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Eggert cracks Shanikov with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Eggert has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Shanikov to stand back up!
Shanikov is rocked! Shanikov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Oh Shanikov is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Eggert fakes the body blow, causing Shanikov to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Shanikov goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Uwe Eggert!
