Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Slater (ranked 4585 p4p, 4664 weight class) and Jose Iron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Slater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Iron! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Iron bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Slater's head. Slater ducks under a wild hook from Iron. Iron misses with a few strikes there.
Iron lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Slater shoots in but Iron avoids the takedown attempt easily. A right-left combo lands from Iron. Slater tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Iron swivels and escapes. Slater fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Slater. That's going to take a lot out of him. Iron misses with a low kick.
Iron thuds his right hand into Slater's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Slater is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Iron's half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Iron taking some punishment here, with Slater in his half guard. Iron blocking the ground and pound attempt from Slater. Slater looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Iron with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Slater passes to side control. Iron is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iron takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Slater has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Iron is looking to reverse the position. Slater cracks Iron with a big right hand but Iron just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Iron can do anything to dispel that myth. Slater lands a decent elbow from side control. Iron takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Iron is rocked! A big shot lands for Slater! That's hurt Iron! Will he recover? Slater fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Slater! Johnny Slater seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
