That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philippe Mexes. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shadow keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Mexes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Shadow sprawls well initially but Mexes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mexes is looking for a kimura but Shadow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mexes to get the leverage.
Shadow is looking to improve his position.
Mexes has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Shadow defend it? Mexes steps over the head and cranks it - Shadow is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Mexes!
