And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 7 losses; Billy Turturro! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Cruz takes the fight into the clinch. Turturro prevents the takedown attempt.

Cruz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Turturro's guard. Turturro is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Cruz is staying active. Turturro looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Turturro breaks Cruz's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Turturro pushes down on Cruz's leg and manages to get into half guard. Cruz is staying active underneath Turturro, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Turturro is looking for a kimura here.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Turturro for as long as he can get away with. Turturro trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
