PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liam Walker (ranked 3774 p4p, 2249 weight class) and Ricardo Rebenta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ricardo Rebenta was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Liam Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Rebenta!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rebenta keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Walker connects with an inside leg kick.
Rebenta takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A swing and a miss from Walker.
Walker swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Rebenta.
Rebenta shoots in and drives through. Walker sprawls well.
Walker throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rebenta looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.
Rebenta fails to land the takedown.
Liam Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Rebenta.

Rebenta closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Walker to the mat! Walker manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Rebenta sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Walker's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Walker is refusing to be controlled, as Rebenta sits in half guard.

Walker won't allow Rebenta to pass to mount.

Rebenta is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rebenta looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Walker is trying to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Walker is working hard here to advance position.
Walker works his way to full guard. Good work.
Walker wants to control the position but Rebenta says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Walker trying to control but Rebenta postures up.
Walker wants to get back to full guard.
Rebenta uses his free foot to push down on Walker's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Walker.

Rebenta jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Walker is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Walker and Rebenta has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Walker is looking for a sweep.

Rebenta has an Americana. Walker didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Rebenta is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rebenta hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Ricardo Rebenta!
