PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lue Randle (ranked 4341 p4p, 4072 weight class) and Stephen Steve (ranked 503 p4p, 488 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stephen Steve!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steve bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Randle's head backwards.

Steve moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Randle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Steve closes the distance and clinches.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Steve obliges.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Randle.

and Steve counters with a left to the body.

Randle's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Steve connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Randle scrambles back to his feet.
Randle stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Steve.
Randle tries to close the distance and clinch up but Steve swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Randle doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Steve counters with a nice body shot.
Randle swings away with a body shot that misses
and Steve counters with a nice low kick that buckles Randle's knee momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Randle takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Steve closes the distance and clinches.
Steve lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Randle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Randle throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Randle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Steve sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Steve is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Randle rather than just go for the knockout.

Randle gets tackled into the cage by Steve. Steve maintains the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steve lands a good knee to the midsection. Randle won't want to take too many of those.

Steve fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Randle has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Steve feints and then cracks Randle's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Randle down.

Randle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steve as he jumps to the side.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Randle. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Randle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Steve tries to avoid it but Randle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Steve to the ground. Steve escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Randle is rocked!
Steve fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Randle to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Randle looks to clinch but Steve throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Randle taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Stephen Steve!
A relieved looking Stephen Steve thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
Lue Randle spoke after the fight, saying 'thank you to all my supporters, love you all.'.
