Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Davey Allen (ranked 3671 p4p, 3168 weight class) and Paulo Esquilo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulo Esquilo is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Davey Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paulo Esquilo!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Esquilo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Allen attempts a counter takedown but Esquilo avoids it well and moves away.

Allen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Esquilo throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Allen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Esquilo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Allen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Allen has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Esquilo after a bit of a struggle.
Allen is working for takedown but Esquilo is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Davey Allen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Esquilo lands an elbow inside.
Allen wants a takedown.
Allen avoids the elbow strike from Esquilo, against the cage.
Esquilo pushes off an throws an elbow but Allen leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Allen is trying to drag Esquilo to the mat but Esquilo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Esquilo lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Davey Allen has been cut.
Allen wants a takedown but no success here.
Esquilo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Allen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Esquilo pulls his leg out and moves away.

Esquilo misses with a straight left.
Paulo Esquilo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Esquilo throws a leg kick

and Allen counters with a shoot takedown. Esquilo fights it but they end up in guard.

Allen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Allen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Esquilo controlling the position.
Allen stays in close to Esquilo's body and controls the position.
Allen trying to control but Esquilo is working from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Allen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Allen drops back looking for a leg! Esquilo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Esquilo manages to kick Allen off! Allen jumps back into Esquilo's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Esquilo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Allen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Esquilo waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Allen.
Allen feinted with a counter takedown.
Esquilo throws a hook but Allen avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Esquilo tries to clinch but Allen moves away

and Allen counters with a takedown into side control.

Allen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Esquilo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Allen controls the position.
Allen seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Esquilo for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Allen has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Allen looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Davey Allen will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Davey Allen's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Esquilo throws a leg kick that is checked

and Allen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Esquilo's guard.
Allen wants to control from the top but Esquilo keeps moving.

Allen drops back looking for a leg! Esquilo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Esquilo manages to kick Allen off! Allen jumps back into Esquilo's guard.
Esquilo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Allen is one step ahead there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Esquilo can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Allen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Allen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Allen trying to control but Esquilo is working from the bottom.
Allen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Allen trying to control the position from guard on top but Esquilo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Allen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Esquilo did well to prevent Allen getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Esquilo tries to get to full guard but Allen has control of the leg.
Esquilo is looking to get back to full guard here but Allen has managed to pass to side control instead.
Esquilo is not content to let Allen control the position.
Esquilo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Allen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee asks Allen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Allen prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Allen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
A control attempt from Esquilo but he's now mounted!
Esquilo reaches up to try and control the position but Allen seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Esquilo rolls and tries to escape and now Allen has his back!

Allen is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Esquilo is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Davey Allen!
