This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Lance Davenport! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Mike Marsh! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Marsh gets a clinch. Davenport drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marsh pulls his leg out and moves away.
Davenport shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marsh's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Davenport (2) vs (0) Marsh Davenport sitting in guard, not really doing much. Marsh looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davenport is one step ahead there. Davenport engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marsh controls Davenport momentarily but Davenport frees himself. Davenport controls from within his opponent's guard. Marsh is trying to control the position but Davenport postures up. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Marsh can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davenport controls the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davenport seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Marsh for as long as he can get away with. Marsh trying to control the position.
Davenport seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davenport continues to stall. Davenport has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Davenport works a leg free and moves into half guard. Davenport is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Marsh doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Davenport. Marsh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davenport. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davenport not doing much here.

Score +3 for passing guard: Davenport (5) vs (0) Marsh Davenport is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Marsh will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Marsh is positioning himself to get back to half guard. A lull in the action here.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Davenport tries to advance to mount but can't. Davenport has hold of Marsh's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Marsh tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Davenport cranks the arm and Marsh screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Marsh, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
