This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 2 losses; Steve Louis! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Tony Xi!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Louis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Xi's waist but Xi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Louis off to one side.
Louis circles away from the clinch attempt.

Xi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Louis is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Xi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Louis pulls his leg out and moves away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Xi can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Louis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Xi defends it well.

Xi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Louis is working away from the top position though.
