PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Krauss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Vorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Krauss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Vorhees!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vorhees uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Krauss has time to react.
Krauss throws a right hand that Vorhees ducks under and follows up with a left that Vorhees also avoids with ease.
Krauss looks for a takedown but Vorhees sprawls well.

Vorhees closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Vorhees lands in his opponent's guard.
Krauss will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Vorhees stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krauss swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Krauss knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vorhees on the ground.
Krauss is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Vorhees thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Krauss preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Vorhees has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Vorhees is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Krauss looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vorhees chips away with some ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Krauss tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Vorhees tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Krauss paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vorhees moves in looking to clinch but Krauss pushes him off.
Krauss lands a high kick!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Vorhees darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Vorhees is trying to work for a kimura but Krauss is defending well.
Krauss is breathing heavily.
Vorhees blocks the strikes from Krauss.

Vorhees is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Krauss moves into full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Krauss wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Vorhees is now in half guard.

Vorhees not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Krauss moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Krauss wants to sweep here but Vorhees controlling him for the moment.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Vorhees dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Krauss fails to land the takedown.
A head kick misses from Krauss.

Vorhees has closed the distance and engaged Krauss in a clinch.
Krauss is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vorhees pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Krauss throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vorhees blocks it with crossed arms.
Krauss with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Krauss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Vorhees is pressed up against the cage. Krauss has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vorhees down to the mat. Vorhees avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Krauss. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Vorhees closes the distance and pushes Krauss back into the cage.
Vorhees will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Krauss up against the cage.
Vorhees keeps control of Krauss as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Vorhees tightens his grip and picks Krauss up, before dumping him to the ground. Krauss manages to land in guard.
Vorhees content to stall in guard here.
Vorhees wants to control from the top but Krauss keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vorhees passes into half guard.
Vorhees with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Vorhees is looking to take a break and control but Krauss is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vorhees has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Krauss defend it? Vorhees steps over the head and cranks it - Krauss is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Vorhees!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jason Vorhees!
