Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Arias shoots in for a double leg but Savkov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Savkov tries to counter with a clinch but Arias shakes him off and moves away. Arias dives in for a single leg takedown but Savkov sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Savkov drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Arias defends it well. Savkov is fighting off a takedown attempt but Arias is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Savkov to the mat. Savkov regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Arias (2) vs (0) Savkov The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arias trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Arias is working hard here to advance position. Savkov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Savkov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arias doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Arias manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Savkov has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Rivers Edge Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arias controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Savkov keeping moving, preventing Arias from controlling successfully. Arias not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Savkov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Arias drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Arias jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Arias pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Savkov is keeping the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Savkov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Arias controls the pace. Arias sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Savkov doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Arias paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Savkov - great work!
