Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chen Chong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Van Bone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chen Chong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Van Bone!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Van Bone misses.
Van Bone looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Chong closes this distance looking for a takedown but Van Bone circles away.
Chong swats away the attempt to clinch by Van Bone.
Van Bone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chong.
Van Bone is looking to clinch but Chong is avoiding it.
Van Bone moves in looking to clinch but Chong pushes him off.
Van Bone throws a series of punches but Chong moves out of range.
Van Bone is looking to clinch.
Chong cracks Van Bone with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Van Bone walks into a straight right hand from Chong.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chong with a dominant takedown and that's winded Van Bone.


Van Bone is rocked!
Chong passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Van Bone is still in real trouble! Can Chong finish him?
Chong staying calm.
Van Bone seems to have recovered his senses.

Chong's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chen Chong just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Chong fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Chong tries to close the distance and clinch but Van Bone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Chong clinches up against the cage.
Chong pushes Van Bone back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Chong breaks from the clinch.
Van Bone moves out of range of the body kick from Chong.
Chong lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Van Bone backs up against the cage.


It looks like James Van Bone has been cut.
Chong fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chong shoots in but Van Bone avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chen Chong. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Bone gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Chong swinging wilding here.

Chong closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Chong - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Chong breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
James Van Bone is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Van Bone throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chong shoots in and drives through. Van Bone sprawls well.

Chong works Van Bone's body with a nice hook.

Chong clinches with his opponent.

Chong breaks from the clinch.
Chong throws a sloppy head kick and Van Bone moves out of range easily.
Chong lands a body shot.
Chong scores with a jab to the jaw.
Chong misses with a series of wild punches.
Van Bone avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Bone tries to avoid it but Chong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Bone to the ground. Van Bone escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James Van Bone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Bone looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A lull in the action here as Chong stalls from top position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chen Chong dominated that round.
The cut man is working on James Van Bone's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chong fails with an attempt to clinch.

Chong forces Van Bone back against the cage and clinches.
Chong blocks an uppercut.
Van Bone working aggressively here.
Chong scores with a shot to the side of Van Bone's head.
Van Bone misses with the head strike.
Chong throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Chong escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chong shoots in looking for a takedown. Van Bone tries to sprawl out of it but Chong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Van Bone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Chong gets a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Chong is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Bone is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Chong controlling the pace for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chong has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chen Chong just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Chong, as that shot connected.

Chong keeps the fight on the outside.

Chong has Van Bone up against the cage in a clinch.

Chong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chong walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Van Bone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Chong looks to land a combination. Van Bone sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chong throws a low kick, looking for Van Bone's leg but Van Bone calmly moves out of range.
Chong is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Van Bone can do to turn this around?
Chong closes the distance and clinches up with Van Bone, looking for a takedown. Chong pushes Van Bone against the cage but Van Bone circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Chong scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Chong closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Chong lands in his opponent's guard.
Chong slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chen Chong dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on James Van Bone's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Van Bone prevents Chong from breaking the clinch.
Van Bone swings wildly with an uppercut but Chong uses good head movement to avoid it.
Chong tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
A bit of stalling here from Chong.

Chong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chong lands a left and a right that sends Van Bone crashing to the canvas! Chong dives into mount looking to finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Bone can do anything to dispel that myth.
Van Bone takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chen Chong is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Chen Chong just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Jab, jab by Chong - just one landing.
Chong swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Chong scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Chong drops Van Bone with a left and a right! Oh, Van Bone is hurt - Chong dives into side control looking to finish!

Van Bone is pushing Chong's head away, looking to escape. Chong manages to hold on to the position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chong controlling the position.

Chong stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chong moves into the clinch.
James Van Bone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chong manages to break the clinch.
Chong throws a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chen Chong showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Chong has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
