Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kanud Odimabesser (ranked 540 p4p, 1144 weight class) and Rock Romero (ranked 81 p4p, 164 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kanud Odimabesser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rock Romero !
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romero avoids the body shot from Odimabesser.
Odimabesser with a jab.

It looks like Rock Romero has been cut.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Romero !

It looks like Kanud Odimabesser has been cut.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Romero tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Romero misses with a knee strike.
Romero stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Romero swings wildly with an uppercut but Odimabesser uses good head movement to avoid it.
Romero wants to get back to striking at distance but Odimabesser won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Odimabesser swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Romero blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Odimabesser is working Romero over against the cage.

Romero lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Romero looking to throw knees to the head but Odimabesser is blocking nicely.
Odimabesser tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Odimabesser manages to pull guard.
Odimabesser tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Odimabesser lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Odimabesser engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Odimabesser trying to control but Romero is working from the bottom.
Odimabesser is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Odimabesser throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Romero looking to hit a scissor sweep but Odimabesser is one step ahead there.
Odimabesser trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Romero manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Romero slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Odimabesser bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Romero 's guard.


That's three minutes gone in the round.
Romero wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Romero wants to pass the guard but Odimabesser is keeping the position.
Odimabesser looking for a sweep. Not yet Odimabesser, not yet.
Romero is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Romero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Odimabesser swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Odimabesser has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Romero can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Odimabesser lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Odimabesser slips nicely into half guard.
Romero felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Odimabesser keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Odimabesser is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kanud Odimabesser will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Romero throws a hook but Odimabesser blocks it.
Romero doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A punch combination from Odimabesser misses.
Odimabesser buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Romero misses with an uppercut. Odimabesser saw that one coming.
Odimabesser thumps Romero with a low kick.
Odimabesser looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Romero throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Romero throws a jab but it's blocked by Odimabesser.
Odimabesser looks to score with a jab to the body but Romero is just out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Romero .
Odimabesser moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Romero walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A swing and a miss from Romero .
A slow jab from Romero misses its intended target.

Romero lands a big uppercut and Odimabesser crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Odimabesser looks OK. Romero waves Odimabesser back to his feet!

Odimabesser is rocked!
Odimabesser has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Romero misses with an uppercut
and Odimabesser counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Oh Odimabesser is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Romero drops Odimabesser with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Odimabesser! Romero dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rock Romero !
Rock Romero seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
