Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Slater (ranked 3214 p4p, 4555 weight class) and Jose Iron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Slater has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Slater! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Iron! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slater shoots in and drives through. Iron sprawls well. A slow jab from Iron misses its intended target. Slater looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Iron is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Slater presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Slater goes for a takedown attempt but Iron pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Slater scores with a takedown into Iron's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Slater stands up over Iron, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Slater scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Slater is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Iron looking for a sweep. Not yet Iron, not yet. Slater trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iron can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Slater controls the pace. Slater lands a couple of digs. Slater is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Slater will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Iron is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Slater's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Iron being controlled here, momentarily. Iron really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Slater. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slater has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Slater makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Slater landing some decent shots from guard. Slater content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Slater working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Slater advances position into side control! Iron is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Iron is trying to control Slater's posture but Slater avoids it. Slater lands a few punches from side control. Iron takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Iron is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Slater content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Slater landing strikes.
Iron is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Slater works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Iron is still in real trouble! Can Slater finish him? Iron takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
A big shot lands for Slater! That's hurt Iron! Will he recover? Slater fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Slater! A relieved looking Johnny Slater thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
