Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Cummings!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mafula Kape!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Kape.
It looked like Cummings was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Cummings uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kape.
Cummings is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Kape.
Kape misses the jab.

Kape moves into the clinch.
Cummings tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kape smiles and moves away.
Mafula Kape seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cummings takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kape throws a hook to the side of Cummings's head but Cummings sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It looked like Cummings was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cummings walks into a straight right hand from Kape.
Kape lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Cummings is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kape is just riding it out for now. Cummings eventually gives up the hold.

Cummings is trying to control the action in half guard but Kape is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kape won't allow Cummings to pass to mount.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kape can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cummings has control of Kape's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kape regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cummings has hold of Kape's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kape manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kape lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Still in the clinch, Kape scores with a nice short uppercut.

Mafula Kape seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Cummings pulls guard effortlessly.
Kape wants to control from the top but Cummings keeps moving.
Kape loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Cummings looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Kape is defending well. Cummings quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Kape has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Cummings celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
