The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita drives through and clinches with Alvarez against the cage.
Alvarez wants to break the clinch but can't.

Mesquita manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Alvarez wants to get up but he can't break Mesquita's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Alvarez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mesquita has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Alvarez has managed to get both his arms back between Mesquita's legs - danger averted.

Oh but Mesquita is tightening it up a little... Alvarez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Alvarez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Alvarez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Mesquita!
