Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Richards (ranked 3826 p4p, 3410 weight class) and Chester Nimitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards comes to the cage accompanied by 300 Violin Orchestra. Jacob Richards could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Chester Nimitz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jacob Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chester Nimitz! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards shoots for a takedown but Nimitz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Nimitz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Richards to the ground. Nimitz is now in Richards's guard. Nimitz passes into half guard. Richards blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nimitz. Nimitz moves into full mount! Richards won't be happy about that! Richards regains half guard. Nimitz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nimitz trying to pass the guard but Richards defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nimitz content to control rather than advance. Richards looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nimitz performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Nimitz takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Richards looking for submissions off his back. Nimitz keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nimitz working over Richards with some ground and pound. Richards looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Nimitz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Nimitz lands a nice short elbow. Nice strikes from Nimitz there. Nimitz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Richards with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Nimitz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Richards is trying to defend but Nimitz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Nimitz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Nimitz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nimitz not doing much here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Richards lands a head shot. Nimitz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Chester Nimitz has got the better of the ground game so far. Nimitz is figuring out what he wants to do next. Nimitz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Chester Nimitz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Richards gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nimitz to score an easy takedown into full guard. Nimitz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Nimitz working some strikes from top position. Richards has his foot on Nimitz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nimitz works his way back into a safe position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nimitz with a nice head shot there. Nimitz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nimitz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
