Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Magomed Kharimvotrik (ranked 24320 p4p, 5241 weight class) and Thrall Nithstang (ranked 0 p4p, 582 weight class). Magomed Kharimvotrik has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magomed Kharimvotrik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thrall Nithstang!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nithstang closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kharimvotrik quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nithstang scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Nithstang is working for a kimura but Kharimvotrik is defending it quite comfortably.
Kharimvotrik won't allow Nithstang to pass to mount.
Kharimvotrik is breathing heavily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kharimvotrik is desperately trying to improve his position but Nithstang has a good base and remains in mount.

Nithstang jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kharimvotrik manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Nithstang is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kharimvotrik is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Nithstang content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
It looks like Nithstang might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Kharimvotrik is looking to regain half guard here but Nithstang keeps moving and retains side control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nithstang thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Nithstang decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Nithstang clinches up with Kharimvotrik and pushes him back against the cage.
Nithstang has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kharimvotrik uses from the top position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nithstang can do anything to dispel that myth.
Nithstang seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Nithstang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kharimvotrik was covering up waiting for the punch and Nithstang finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Thrall Nithstang has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nithstang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Nithstang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nithstang connects with a nice short shot to Kharimvotrik's temple.

Thrall Nithstang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Nithstang has hold of Kharimvotrik's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kharimvotrik manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kharimvotrik takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Nithstang's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
