Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ray Okino!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slater looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Okino!

Slater will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Slater content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Okino is looking to reverse the position.

Okino manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Okino can do anything to dispel that myth.

Slater seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slater is trying to control. Okino wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Okino has hold of Slater's hands but Slater slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Slater lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Slater winds up and cracks Okino with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Okino is rocked!
Slater is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Okino is hurt! He's hurt bad - Slater fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Okino from any more punishment! Congratulations to Slater! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Slater!
