PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kid Kamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Takanobu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Akira Takanobu was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kid Kamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Takanobu!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kamamoto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Takanobu tries to roll over but Kamamoto keeps him under control.

Kamamoto is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Takanobu looks like he's trying to stand up.
Takanobu is positioning himself well to prevent Kamamoto advancing to mount.
Kamamoto throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kamamoto throws a strike but Takanobu avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kamamoto drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Takanobu can't do much from the bottom here.

Kamamoto misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Takanobu has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kamamoto off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Takanobu escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Takanobu's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Takanobu.
Kamamoto moves out of range of the body kick.
Kamamoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Takanobu but Takanobu pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kamamoto misses with a takedown attempt - Takanobu sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kid Kamamoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Takanobu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kamamoto moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Takanobu fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kamamoto, pushing him back against the ropes.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kamamoto looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kamamoto seems to be looking for submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kamamoto has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Takanobu is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Takanobu lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Come on Takanobu - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Takanobu breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Takanobu lands a jab to Kamamoto's midsection.

Takanobu is pressed up against the ropes. Kamamoto has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Takanobu down to the mat. Takanobu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Takanobu misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kamamoto shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Takanobu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Akira Takanobu.

Kamamoto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Kamamoto swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Takanobu is now in Kamamoto's guard. A big mistake from Kamamoto there, giving up the dominant position!

Akira Takanobu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kamamoto thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Takanobu gets through Kamamoto's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Takanobu's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Takanobu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kamamoto uses from the top position.

Takanobu is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kamamoto throws and elbow that misses. Takanobu uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kamamoto's guard. Nice move by Takanobu!

Kamamoto isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Takanobu stacks Kamamoto on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Takanobu!

Takanobu decides to stand back up. Takanobu steps back and let's Kamamoto get back to his feet.

Akira Takanobu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Takanobu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
