PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robert Lee (ranked 2547 p4p, 1214 weight class) and Billy Crawley (ranked 326 p4p, 163 weight class). Crawley has chosen Jewelry - One More Time as his entrance music. Billy Crawley will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Billy Crawley!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lee wants to pass the guard but Crawley is keeping the position.
Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Crawley has wrist control.
Crawley avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Crawley wants to get back to his feet but Lee is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Robert Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Crawley counters with a nice uppercut.

Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Crawley as he jumps to the side.
Crawley doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Lee shoots in but Crawley avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Lee closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Lee changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Crawley fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Crawley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Crawley throws out a counter right but Lee avoids it with no problem.
Crawley throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Crawley pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lee shoots in looking for a takedown but Crawley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lee's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lee dives in for a single leg takedown but Crawley sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Crawley lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lee backwards.

Crawley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Crawley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lee.
Crawley looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Lee looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Crawley knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Lee is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Crawley defends it well.
Lee wants to take a breather but Crawley is having none of it.

Crawley pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
Crawley is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Crawley's waist but Crawley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Crawley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lee closes the distance and clinches.

Crawley lands a left hand.
Crawley tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Lee jumps guard but Crawley stands there with Lee around his waist. Lee gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Crawley works on Lee's body with a couple of short punches.
Crawley scores with a hook to the body.
Crawley tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Crawley tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lee's elbow.
Crawley lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Lee is breathing heavily.
Lee looking to stall.

Crawley manages to break the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lee tries to clinch up.
Lee backing away here, and Crawley unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Crawley tests Lee's chin there with a solid looking shot.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Crawley dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Crawley lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Lee or not.
Lee wants to take the fight to the mat but Crawley manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Crawley can't find room to land a body shot as Lee controls the action.

Crawley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lee tries to clinch but Crawley moves out of range.

and Crawley counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Lee is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Crawley tries to kick Lee off in order to stand up. Lee Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Crawley is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Lee has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Crawley!
We've been hearing good reports from Lee's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Crawley felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lee is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Crawley defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Crawley is in a bad position with Lee working for a choke. Crawley manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Crawley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Crawley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Crawley stands and steps away. Lee gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Crawley throws out a counter right but Lee avoids it with no problem.
Crawley slaps away a takedown attempt from Lee, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Crawley flicks out a counter leg kick but Lee steps away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lee tries for a takedown but Crawley circles away easily
and Crawley counters with a thumping low kick.
Billy Crawley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Crawley shows good takedown defense.
Lee closes the distance looking to clinch

and Crawley counters with a head kick that drops Lee to the mat! Lee scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Crawley scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Crawley throws a head kick but Lee moves out of range.
Crawley ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Crawley! Lee is out on his feet! Crawley rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Lee is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Lee is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Billy Crawley!
Our winner, Billy Crawley, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
