Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kazuo Takashi (ranked 26 p4p, 390 weight class) and Catchy Cartwright (ranked 4 p4p, 49 weight class). Takashi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, 吉田兄弟 Rising. Cartwright has chosen Spiders as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Catchy Cartwright!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright throws a right and a left that both miss.
Takashi attempts a counter takedown but Cartwright avoids it well and moves away.
Cartwright tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takashi was well out of range. Poor timing from Cartwright.

Takashi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Takashi seems to be looking for submissions.
Takashi is looking to take a break and control but Cartwright is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cartwright connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Cartwright connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Takashi momentarily.
Catchy Cartwright is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Takashi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cartwright's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Takashi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cartwright keeps working.
Takashi tries to advance position but instead Cartwright slips a leg back in to half guard.
Takashi wants to take a breather but Cartwright is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Takashi seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Takashi is trying a forearm choke I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Catchy Cartwright will probably get the nod.

Cartwright is trying to get back to his feet but Takashi has full control of the position and if anything, Cartwright has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Takashi is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Takashi slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Cartwright wants to get back to his feet.
