The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morningstar fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Morningstar scores with a shot to the body.
Palhares fails in his attempt to clinch.
No joy there for Morningstar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Morningstar pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Palhares just misses with a punch to the body.
Morningstar fails to land the takedown.
Rousimar Palhares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice uppercut there from Morningstar.
It looks like Rousimar Palhares has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Palhares doesn't manage to clinch there - Morningstar circles away.
Morningstar waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Palhares.
Morningstar pivots, looking for a leg kick but Palhares is out of range and Morningstar settles back down.
Palhares tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Morningstar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Morningstar pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Palhares as Morningstar shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devin Morningstar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morningstar sizes up Palhares with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Morningstar scores with a hook.
That has opened up Rousimar Palhares's cut even more.
Morningstar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Morningstar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Palhares is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Palhares looks gassed!
Morningstar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Palhares drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Palhares jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morningstar throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Palhares should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morningstar wants to stand and escape but Palhares is having none of it.
Palhares slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Morningstar.
Morningstar scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Palhares manages to mount him!
Morningstar is trying to stand up.
Palhares moves to back control.
Palhares is working for a rear naked choke. Morningstar is not defending it well and Palhares has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Morningstar refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Morningstar's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rousimar Palhares!
