Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cole Kong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sergey Telegin! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Telegin throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Kong misses with a hook
and Telegin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A momentary lapse in concentration from Telegin enables Kong to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Telegin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Telegin keeping moving, preventing Kong from controlling successfully. Telegin looking for a guillotine here but Kong defends easily.
Telegin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kong defends it easily. Kong stopping the sweep attempt from Telegin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Telegin working for a triangle but Kong defends it easily.
Kong throws a big elbow that misses. Kong landing with the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Telegin looking for a sweep. Not yet Telegin, not yet. Kong in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Telegin is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kong has his hands clasped together but Telegin extends and breaks Kong's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Telegin.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sergey Telegin! Sergey Telegin gave a mention to Neon Zombie in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
