Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dave Peters!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoeskins takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Peters has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hoeskins stalling in the clinch but Peters improves position.
Hoeskins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Peters gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Peters is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Peters wants a takedown.
Peters tries to break the clinch but Hoeskins is controlling the position.
Hoeskins is trying to break the clinch but Peters has him pressed against the cage.

Peters jumps guard and drags Hoeskins to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Peters is looking for a triangle but Hoeskins pushes his legs off easily.
Peters wants to sweep but no luck.
Peters manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hoeskins manages to get himself to full guard.

Hoeskins can't keep his opponent in guard - Peters advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Peters is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Hoeskins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peters is working away from the top position though.
Hoeskins is staying active underneath Peters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Peters throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Hoeskins trying to control but Peters postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Peters trying to mount his opponent but Hoeskins defends it.
Hoeskins keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Peters is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Hoeskins is looking for a sweep. Peters is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Peters is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hoeskins sees it coming and defends easily.
Hoeskins has hold of Peters's hands but Peters slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Peters has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Peters is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Hoeskins is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hoeskins is looking to improve his position but Peters isn't that keen on the idea.

Peters working for a submission but Hoeskins is keeping him at bay.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Peters cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hoeskins wants to control but Peters is having none of it.
Peters unloading with bombs!

Peters working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Peters content just to control the position here.
Peters avoids the attempt from Hoeskins to control.
Hoeskins gets back to half guard.

Peters is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hoeskins sees it coming and defends easily.

Hoeskins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peters on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hoeskins is controlling Peters's trapped leg to prevent Peters from advancing to side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Hoeskins gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Peters to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hoeskins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Peters passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Peters has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Peters is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hoeskins has escaped the position, nice work there.
Peters grinds an elbow into Hoeskins's temple.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peters throws an elbow but Hoeskins slips to the side and avoids it well.

Peters has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Hoeskins!
Hoeskins is desperately trying to improve his position but Peters has a good base and remains in mount.

Peters has control of Hoeskins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hoeskins regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hoeskins tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Peters controlling from the full mount.
Hoeskins tries to hold on but Peters postures up.

Peters working for a guillotine from mount but Hoeskins is in no mood to give up.
Peters tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Peters wants to control the pace but Hoeskins is squirming around nicely.

Peters is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hoeskins can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hoeskins tries to hold on but Peters postures up.

Peters controlling from the full mount.
Hoeskins is squirming around, avoiding Peters's attempts to control the action.
Peters avoids the attempt from Hoeskins to control.
Hoeskins is trying to escape the mount but Peters keeps good control and instead manages to take Hoeskins's back.
Peters has good solid back control here.

Peters is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Hoeskins with him. Hoeskins is trying to defend but Peters has an arm under the chin now! Hoeskins grimaces and is forced to tap out!
