Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krzysztof Zakrzewski (ranked 18867 p4p, 3109 weight class) and Shannon Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 395 weight class). Shannon Hood has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Krzysztof Zakrzewski's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 42 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Krzysztof Zakrzewski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shannon Hood!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zakrzewski getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Zakrzewski looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Zakrzewski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hood swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hood is looking for the big counter here.
Zakrzewski shoots and misses

and Hood counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Zakrzewski has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Hood pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hood lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Hood throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zakrzewski was covering up waiting for the punch and Hood finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Zakrzewski is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Hood pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hood rushes Zakrzewski and presses him up against the cage.

Hood gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Hood lands a couple of elbows.
Hood must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hood's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Hood.

Hood postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Zakrzewski controls Hood momentarily but Hood frees himself.
Hood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hood works over Zakrzewski with some ground and pound from guard.

Zakrzewski is working an open guard so Hood takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Danga de danga de dang - Hood scores with a four punch combination!
Hood scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Zakrzewski has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hood goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Hood lands a head kick. Zakrzewski smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Hood shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Zakrzewski counters with a body kick that stops Hood in his tracks momentarily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zakrzewski dodges the punch combination from Hood.
Zakrzewski blocks a head kick by Hood.
Zakrzewski attempts a counter takedown but Hood avoids it well and moves away.
Hood shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zakrzewski pinned against the cage. Zakrzewski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Zakrzewski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hood tries to counter with a clinch but Zakrzewski shakes him off and moves away.
Hood throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Zakrzewski.
Zakrzewski tries to clinch there but Hood circles away.

Zakrzewski wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Hood manages to pass to side control.

Hood lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Zakrzewski manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hood keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

I was talking to Zakrzewski's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Hood has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Zakrzewski is trying to keep an underhook but Hood manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hood throws a right hand that Zakrzewski ducks under and follows up with a left that Zakrzewski also avoids with ease.

Hood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zakrzewski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hood feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
