Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gunnar Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Paavali Kontiainen!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura drops his hands momentarily and Kontiainen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

It looks like Gunnar Kimura has been cut.
Kontiainen has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kontiainen throws a hook but Kimura blocks it.
Gunnar Kimura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kontiainen avoids the head kick by Kimura.
Kontiainen swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kimura with the inside leg kick.
Kimura throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kimura looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kimura throws a big shot that misses.
Kimura misses with a left hand
and Kontiainen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Kimura tries a head kick but it misses.
Kontiainen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Kontiainen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kimura.
Kimura throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
It seemed like Kontiainen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A big left from Kimura misses.
Kontiainen keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Kontiainen feints the counter takedown.

Kontiainen throws an off balance right hand
and Kimura connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Paavali Kontiainen has been cut.
Kimura looks to land a right hand but Kontiainen moved out of range.
Kontiainen takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kimura just misses with a punch to the body.
Kontiainen looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kimura swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kontiainen scores with a sloppy right hand. Kimura should have avoided that one.
Kimura throws a head kick that misses
enabling Kontiainen to counter with a crisp jab.
Kimura throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A nice side step and Kontiainen releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Kimura throws a body punch but Kontiainen moves out of range.
Kimura throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Kimura throws a head kick but Kontiainen moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kimura misses with a hook. Kontiainen ducked under it nicely.
Kimura misses with a right hand
and Kimura takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Gunnar Kimura's cut is getting worse.
Kimura throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kontiainen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kimura lands with a shot to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A head kick by Kimura misses

and Kontiainen counters with a nice right hand that sends Kimura toppling to the canvas! Kimura scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Kontiainen finish him?!

Kimura is rocked!
Kimura misses with an uppercut.
Kontiainen tries a quick counter leg kick but Kimura is wise to it.
Kimura misses with a straight left.
Kontiainen looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kimura lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Kontiainen cracks Kimura on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Kimura falls backwards against the cage. Kontiainen follows up with more strikes that drop Kimura to his knees. Kontiainen keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Kimura! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paavali Kontiainen!
During a confident post fight interview, Paavali Kontiainen thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
In defeat, Gunnar Kimura stepped up to the mic, saying ' the record a loss!? How cares psst always F boring fights and fighters'.
