PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dan Morgan (ranked 3876 p4p, 4574 weight class) and Eric Traub (ranked 0 p4p, 507 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Morgan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wellerman (Sea Shanty). Eric Traub acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Eric Traub!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Traub closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Traub lands in his opponent's guard.

Morgan is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Morgan has Traub pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Morgan pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Traub tumbling to the mat - Morgan dives into Traub's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morgan is working Traub over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Traub can do anything to dispel that myth.

Traub really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morgan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Morgan is trying to pull guard but Traub turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Traub tightens his grip and picks Morgan up, before dumping him to the ground. Morgan manages to land in guard.
Traub is standing up over Morgan. Morgan looks to escape but Traub dives into side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Morgan shoots for a double leg takedown but Traub sprawls well. He's pushed Morgan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Traub closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morgan circles away.

Traub is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Morgan's half guard.

Morgan has one foot on Traub's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Traub is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Morgan pulls his head out easily.

Morgan wants to control the pace but Traub is squirming around nicely.
Morgan is really struggling to control Traub but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Traub is desperately trying to improve his position but Morgan has a good base and remains in mount.
Morgan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Traub sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Morgan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Traub sees it coming and defends easily.

Morgan is nestled in close to Traub, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Morgan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Morgan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Traub shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Morgan pinned against the cage. Morgan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Morgan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Traub manages to circle out of the way.
A nice leg kick from Morgan, right into the meat of the thigh.

Morgan throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Traub tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Morgan is in Traub's guard.
Traub wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Morgan manages to pass to side control.

I think Morgan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
