PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Davante Dunbar (ranked 695 p4p, 1141 weight class) and Shingen Takeda (ranked 99 p4p, 162 weight class). Dunbar comes into the arena with Ghost - Cirice blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davante Dunbar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Takeda!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeda displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dunbar throws out the jab.
Dunbar fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Shingen Takeda has been cut.
Dunbar throws a shot from downtown. Takeda moves away and avoids it.
Takeda tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Davante Dunbar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dunbar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Takeda at a distance.
Takeda takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Dunbar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A jab from Dunbar finds it's way through Takeda's defenses.
Dunbar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Takeda was well out of range. Poor timing from Dunbar.
Takeda tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Dunbar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dunbar misses with a wild body shot.
Takeda let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Dunbar misses with a body shot.
Dunbar throws a predictable looking body shot
and Takeda connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takeda tries to clinch up.

and Takeda counters with a takedown into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dunbar manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Takeda seems content to control.

Takeda is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dunbar is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Takeda pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Takeda works his way into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dunbar is letting Takeda control him for a moment.

Takeda looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Takeda taking a breather here.
Takeda tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
You can see the frustration on Dunbar's face as Takeda controls the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dunbar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Takeda advances nicely into full mount.
Takeda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Takeda can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dunbar is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Takeda controlling from the full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dunbar is looking to improve his position but Takeda isn't that keen on the idea.

Takeda moves to back control.
Dunbar is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Takeda.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shingen Takeda will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Shingen Takeda's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dunbar misses with an uppercut.

Takeda fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dunbar sprawls well initially but Takeda persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Takeda perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Dunbar is looking for a sweep. Takeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Takeda seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Dunbar is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Shingen Takeda!
A very excited looking Shingen Takeda made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
