PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Bain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Natter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Bain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Travis Natter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Natter swinging wilding here.
Bain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Natter tries a head kick but it misses.
Natter misses with a straight right.
Natter moves in looking to clinch but Bain pushes him off.
Natter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bain circles away.

Bain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Bain throwing shots but Natter is blocking nicely.

Bain drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Natter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bain has Natter in his guard.
Natter postures up and lands a big shot to Bain's brow.
Bain wants to sweep but no luck.
Bain tries to strike from the bottom.

Bain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Natter connects with a couple of short punches.
Natter lands a couple of elbows.
Bain avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Natter throwing strikes from guard but Bain blocks nicely.
Natter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Natter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Natter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Natter won't allow Bain to sweep him here.
Bain is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Bain looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bain is looking for a triangle but Natter pushes his legs off easily.
Natter works over Bain with some ground and pound from guard.

Natter postures up and lands a big shot to Bain's brow.

Natter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Natter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bain has momentary wrist control but Natter slips an elbow through the middle.
Natter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bain had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Natter is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Bain Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Natter's back instead.
Bain doesn't have the hooks in and Natter manages to turn into his guard.
Bain tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Natter throws a strike but Bain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bain is looking to stand up but Natter won't let him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bain blocks a head kick by Natter.
Natter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A right-left combo lands from Bain.
Natter tries a head kick but it misses.
Bain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Bain will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Natter throws a head kick but Bain moves out of range.
Natter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bain counters with a body kick.
David Bain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bain drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Natter looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bain puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Bain is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bain connects with a nice short shot to Natter's temple.

Natter strikes from the bottom but Bain uses the opportunity to move to side control.

Bain is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Natter knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bain throws a strike aimed at the side of Natter's head but Natter avoids it well.
Natter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Natter is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bain connects with a decent elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bain is looking to take a break and control but Natter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Natter throws a combination that misses
and Bain counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Natter closes the distance but Bain moves to the side
and Bain counters with a series of strikes. Natter will be more careful next time no doubt.

Natter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Bain counters with a three punch combo that has Natter backing up. Natter nods at Bain to acknowledge the strikes.
Natter misses with a double jab
and Bain counters with an inside leg kick.
Natter darts in trying to clinch

and Bain moves into the clinch.
Bain with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Bain is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Natter pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bain keeps control of Natter as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Natter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bain gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Bain drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Bain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Natter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Natter throws a sloppy head kick
and Bain counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Natter thinking.
Bain shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Bain dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Natter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bain paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Bain drops back, looking for a kneebar! Natter looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Natter looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Natter!
Natter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bain to see if he's OK.
