PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Kowalski (ranked 3713 p4p, 3733 weight class) and Marcel Romanow (ranked 441 p4p, 442 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Kowalski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcel Romanow!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romanow scores with a jab. Kowalski acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Kowalski throws a looping overhand right but Romanow ducks down to avoid it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kowalski or perhaps it was just good defense by Romanow, which made it look bad.
Kowalski fails to land the takedown.
Kowalski throws a series of punches but Romanow avoids them all with ease.
Nice shot by Romanow.
Kowalski lands with a cross.
Romanow feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Kowalskis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Kowalski looking to score a takedown here. Romanow is defending well but Kowalski drives through and ends up in Romanow's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kowalski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Romanow manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kowalski manages to get himself to full guard.

Kowalski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Romanow's guard.


Romanow looking for subs off his back but Kowalski has passed one foot through into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kowalski is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Kowalski working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Romanow wants to improve his position but Kowalski is controlling well.
Romanow wants to control but Kowalski is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Peter Kowalski very nearly forgot to thank MKFC amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
