Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gervonta Davis (ranked 1688 p4p, 1869 weight class) and White Goodman (ranked 219 p4p, 240 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gervonta Davis! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, White Goodman! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goodman tries to clinch up and Goodman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
It looks like White Goodman has been cut. Davis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Goodman sees it coming and avoids it easily. Davis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Goodman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Davis to the ground. Goodman is now in Davis's guard. Goodman lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Goodman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Goodman stops Davis from standing up. Goodman trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Davis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Goodman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Goodman working some strikes from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis looking for a sweep. Not yet Davis, not yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goodman lands a couple of digs. Goodman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Goodman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Davis on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davis tries to get out of the position. Goodman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Davis's guard. Goodman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Davis pushes Goodman off, looking to escape but Goodman dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Davis is forced to tap! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). White Goodman! White Goodman is the new lightweight champion! White Goodman made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Losing is a genetic disorder much like baldness or necrophilia and its only your fault if you don't hate yourself enough to do something about it!
