Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Michael Bostic (ranked 1462 p4p, 1784 weight class) and Damon Petrers (ranked 72 p4p, 92 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bostic might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Move. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damon Petrers! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bostic blocks a jab. Petrers misses the jab. Petrers tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Bostic counters with a nice double leg into guard. Bostic distracts Petrers with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Bostic won't allow Petrers to sweep him here. Petrers keeping moving, preventing Bostic from controlling successfully. Petrers looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petrers can't keep his opponent in guard - Bostic advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Petrers is trying to get back to full guard. Bostic seems to be looking for submissions.

Bostic thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Bostic prevents Petrers from standing back up.
Bostic is trying to control the action in half guard but Petrers is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Petrers trying to hold on to Bostic's head to control him but Bostic postures up.
Bostic not landing any meaningful shots this time. Petrers is refusing to be controlled, as Bostic sits in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Petrers throws a jab but it's blocked by Bostic. Bostic was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Petrers looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. A jab from Petrers misses. Bostic misses with a hook. Bostic looks to score with a jab to the body but Petrers is just out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Petrers. Bostic does a little dance to reset his feet. Petrers takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Petrers works the jab nicely. Petrers jabs Bostic right on the nose. Bostic blinks but takes it well. Petrers tries to clinch but Bostic moves away and Bostic counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A jab from Petrers misses. Petrers swings for the body but Bostic moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Petrers looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrers bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Bostic takes a jab right on the kisser.
Petrers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Petrers throws out a counter right but Bostic avoids it with no problem. Bostic misses with a takedown attempt and Petrers counters with a stiff right hand. Petrers needs to keep his hands up - Bostic had a free shot at his head there. Petrers takes a swing at Bostic's ribcage but misses. Damon Petrers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Petrers lands a nice shot that snaps Bostic's head back.
Bostic is rocked! Petrers takes the fight into the clinch. Petrers is pressed up against the cage. Bostic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Petrers down to the mat. Petrers avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Bostic. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bostic swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Petrers is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Petrers misses the body punch and Bostic counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Petrers misses with an uppercut
and Bostic counters with a lovely shot to the body. Bostic has been working on his balance at Uncle Nastys Training Shack, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Petrers. Bostic shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Petrers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Petrers. Bostic has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Petrers has his hands on Bostic's head, controlling the position. Bostic looking to pass the guard. Bostic postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Petrers controls Bostic momentarily but Bostic frees himself. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Michael Bostic will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Petrers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bostic manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Bostic getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Damon Petrers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bostic uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. A big left from Bostic misses. Bostic takes one to the side of the head.
Petrers darts in and clinches Bostic up against the cage. Petrers misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Petrers misses with a straight left. Bostic throws a big shot that misses. Bostic stuns Petrers with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Petrers throws a big shot that misses. Bostic decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bostic throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bostic is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bostic wants to control but Petrers is keeping him busy. Bostic throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Petrers to regain full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Bostic passes Petrers's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Petrers is defending against the submission attempts here by Bostic.

Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Bostic slips a nice elbow through Petrers's hands, connecting with Petrers's forehead. Bostic wants to free his trapped foot but Petrers is holding on for dear life with his legs. Petrers is trying to maintain the position but Bostic is very close to passing his half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Petrers keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bostic in particular looking to stall. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bostic ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Petrers misses with a shot to the body and Bostic counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Bostic jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round. Petrers takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Petrers shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bostic as he avoids it easily. Bostic takes a swing at Petrers's ribcage but misses. Bostic scores with a takedown into Petrers's guard. Petrers is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Bostic content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Bostic tries to free his leg and advance position but Petrers is retaining full guard. Bostic wants to control from the top but Petrers keeps moving. Petrers looking for a sweep. Not yet Petrers, not yet. Damon Petrers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bostic in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Bostic with a flurry of punches that miss. Petrers keeping moving, preventing Bostic from controlling successfully. Bostic advances position into side control! Bostic wants to control but Petrers is keeping him busy. Bostic working the ground and pound. Petrers seems a little lost for a moment, as Bostic dominates the positioning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. An elbow from Bostic crashes against the mat.
Bostic misses with the ground and pound. Petrers is letting Bostic control him for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bostic is looking to take a break and control but Petrers is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bostic is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petrers can do to turn this around? Bostic ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Petrers moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Bostic closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bostic lands in his opponent's guard. Michael Bostic is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Bostic wants to control from the top but Petrers keeps moving. Bostic sitting in guard, not really doing much. Bostic trying to control the position from guard on top but Petrers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Petrers isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bostic stacks Petrers on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bostic!
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Bostic showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bostic, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
