And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 9 losses; Bubba Rolls! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Steve Smith.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Gracie clinches up against the cage. Gracie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Gracie gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Gracie (2) vs (0) Rolls Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gracie seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rolls does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rolls trying to control but Gracie postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rolls holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Rolls is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Rolls is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rolls sees it coming and defends easily. Rolls won't allow Gracie to pass to mount. Rolls is looking to improve his position.
Rolls has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gracie is working away from the top position though. Gracie passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Gracie (5) vs (0) Rolls Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Rolls is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rolls tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Rolls looks calm but he's in trouble here. Gracie gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Rolls is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Gracie lets go of the hold and Rolls can pop his arm back in it's socket.
