Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Colton Cates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Guida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Colton Cates could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Julius Guida's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guida is looking to land body kicks.

Guida gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cates regains guard.

Cates is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cates working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Guida doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Guida manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Cates has his foot on Guida's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guida works his way back into a safe position though.

Cates had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Guida is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cates Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Guida's back instead.

Cates has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Guida has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cates shoots for a double leg takedown but Guida sprawls well. He's pushed Cates's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Guida is trying to trip Cates. He has hold of a leg but Cates is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Guida persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Cates is looking to sinch up a triangle. Guida throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Cates's body to avoid the submission. Cates has instead reached around Guida's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Cates arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
