PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tibor Terej (ranked 3176 p4p, 3110 weight class) and Andy Andulusian (ranked 398 p4p, 390 weight class). Andy Andulusian told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tibor Terej! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andy Andulusian! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Terej avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Andulusian looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Terej slips a jab from Andulusian. Terej closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Andulusian did well to prevent Terej getting side control. Still in half guard, Terej seems content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Terej has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Terej passes to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Terej controlling his opponent. Terej seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Andulusian for as long as he can get away with. Terej's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andulusian can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Terej has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. This is a sustained period of stalling by Terej. Further stalling from Terej.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Terej continues to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Terej is stinking the place up with his stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Tibor Terej dominated that round. That's time! Terej's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Andulusian closes the distance and pushes Terej back into the cage. Terej drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Andulusian gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Terej drops down looking for an ankle pick but Andulusian pulls his leg out and moves away.
Terej fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Andulusian sprawls well initially but Terej persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Terej perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. More hug and hope from Terej. Terej continues to hold on tight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Terej is looking to advance position but Andulusian won't allow it. Terej content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Terej tries to keep at a distance but Andulusian has taken the fight into the clinch. Andulusian utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Terej tries to score a body lock takedown but Andulusian shows good agility there to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tibor Terej. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Andulusian with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
It looks like Tibor Terej has been cut.

A shot in the inside from Andulusian. Terej is looking to take this one to the mat. Andulusian is defending well against a takedown attempt. Andulusian lands with a short shot to the head. Terej letting Andulusian take a breather here. Andulusian prevents a takedown attempt there.
Terej is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Andulusian gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. A nice right hand lands inside from Andulusian. Andulusian throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Terejs head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Andulusian is pressed up against the cage. Terej has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Andulusian down to the mat. Andulusian avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Andulusian throws a hook to the side of Terej's head but Terej sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Andy Andulusian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Andulusian drives through and clinches with Terej against the cage.
Andulusian connects with a knee to the head.
Andulusian has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Terej - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Andulusian, and another! Terej is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Andy Andulusian!
