Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Herbert Mullin (ranked 2379 p4p, 2347 weight class) and Pete Dunham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dunham has chosen Im Forever Blowing Bubbles as his entrance music. Herbert Mullin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Herbert Mullin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Dunham!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mullin scores with a jab to the jaw.
The fighters circle momentarily. Dunham darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Mullin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mullin misses with a few strikes there.
A head kick misses from Mullin.
Dunham looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dunham looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mullin appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Dunham uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mullin has time to react.

Mullin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dunham tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Mullin manages to move to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mullin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dunham can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mullin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Dunham is now in Mullin's guard. A big mistake from Mullin there, giving up the dominant position!

Mullin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dunham has picked Mullin up and slammed him! Mullin can't keep hold of the triangle and Dunham manages to pass to side control!

Mullin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dunham defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mullin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dunham is just riding it out for now. Mullin eventually gives up the hold.

Mullin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mullin seems to be looking for submissions.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Mullin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Mullin tries a head kick but it misses.
Mullin fakes the leg kick and cracks Dunham in the body.
Dunham ducks under a wild hook from Mullin.
Dunham paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Dunham stuffs the takedown.
Mullin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dunham swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Mullin tries a head kick but it misses.
Mullin has been working on his balance at Irish Collar & Elbow Academy (ICE), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Dunham.
Mullin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Dunham counters with a thumping low kick.
Dunham fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mullin.

and Dunham makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Mullin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dunham is fending him off so far but Mullin persists. Nope, Dunham circles away and we're back to standing.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mullin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mullin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mullin stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Dunham lands a right hook to the body.
Dunham's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mullin connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Dunham scrambles back to his feet.
Mullin misses with a takedown attempt
and Dunham counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mullin throws a nice looking combination but Dunham bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Herbert Mullin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mullin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Mullin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mullin closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like Pete Dunham has been cut.
Dunham connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Dunham takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Mullin throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nice body kick there by Dunham.
Pete Dunham is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mullin throws a sloppy head kick and Dunham moves out of range easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dunham.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dunham connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Pete Dunham seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Mullin lands a head kick. Dunham smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Mullin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Mullin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Mullin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dunham!
Dunham tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

Mullin get's back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dunham ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Dunham scores with the left hand. Mullin knows he should have avoided that one.
Mullin lands a head shot.
Mullin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Pete Dunham will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Dunham scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Dunham lands a really nice looking cross but Mullin seems unphased.
Nice defenses there by Dunham.
Mullin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dunham bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mullin's head backwards.

Mullin is rocked!
Dunham is looking to clinch but Mullin is avoiding it.
Oh Mullin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dunham thumps Mullin with a low kick.
Mullin seems to have got his legs back now.
Dunham scores with a leg kick.
Dunham walks into a stiff left hand from Mullin.
Dunham thuds his right hand into Mullin's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Mullin throws a body punch but Dunham moves out of range.
Dunham feints a counter leg kick.
Mullin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A little jabbing left from Dunham on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mullin throws a lazy head kick
and Dunham counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dunham tries to land a front kick but Mullin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mullin throws a hook but Dunham blocks it.
Dunham is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Mullin with a body shot.

Dunham moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mullin throws a head kick that misses.
Dunham looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Dunham scores with a nice strike.
A head kick misses from Mullin.
Dunham drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Mullin right on the button. Mullin goes down! Dunham follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Dunham gets the win via TKO!
