Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darry Curtis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Curtis forces Matsuzaka back against the cage and clinches.
Curtis blocks a body shot from Matsuzaka.
Matsuzaka is trying to force a seperation but Curtis has the dominant position.
Matsuzaka misses with some punches.
Curtis lands a left hand.
Matsuzaka scores with a shoulder strike.
Curtis misses with a hook to the ribs.
Matsuzaka can't find room to land a body shot as Curtis controls the action.
Matsuzaka throws a head punch that misses.
Matsuzaka blocks a body shot from Curtis.
Curtis lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Matsuzaka blocks a body shot from Curtis.
Curtis avoids the elbow strike from Matsuzaka, against the cage.
Matsuzaka blocks an uppercut.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matsuzaka breaks the clinch.

Curtis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Curtis misses with a punch to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Matsuzaka's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Come on Curtis - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Matsuzaka lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Curtis prevents a body shot from Matsuzaka.

Matsuzaka's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've been informed that Curtis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Curtis is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
It looked like Matsuzaka wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Matsuzaka digs a good hook to Curtis's body.
Matsuzaka bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Curtis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matsuzaka has been working on his boxing with his coaches at GWad's Playpen in the buildup to the fight.
Curtis misses with the body kick
and Matsuzaka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Darry Curtis has been cut.
Matsuzaka moves out of range of the leg kick from Curtis.

Matsuzaka keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Matsuzaka loads up on a big right hand but Curtis slips the punch.
Curtis swings away with a body shot that misses

and Matsuzaka counters with a nice right hand that sends Curtis toppling to the canvas! Curtis scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Matsuzaka finish him?!

Curtis is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Curtis rushes Matsuzaka and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Curtis is still on wobbly legs! Can Matsuzaka finish him?
Matsuzaka lands a body shot in the clinch.
Matsuzaka lands an elbow that stopped Curtis in his tracks for a moment.
Matsuzaka has Curtis pressed against the cage. He pushes Curtis back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Matsuzaka throws a beautiful elbow that sends Curtis crashing to the floor! Matsuzaka piles on the pressure with more strikes! Curtis is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Keisuke Matsuzaka!
Keisuke Matsuzaka tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
