Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Toombs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Markus Uno! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Uno tries to clinch but Toombs moves out of range. Toombs wants to clinch up but Uno keeps it at a distance. Uno rushes Toombs and presses him up against the cage. Uno connects with a nasty looking knee right to Toombs's face.
It looks like Joseph Toombs has been cut. Uno has Toombs pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Uno pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Toombs tumbling to the mat - Uno dives into Toombs's guard. Toombs looking to control.
Uno throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Uno wants to stand but Toombs is controlling his posture from full guard. Uno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Toombs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Uno is one step ahead there. Uno trying to stand up but can't free himself from Toombs's guard. Toombs might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Uno looking to pass the guard. Uno stands up from Toombs's guard - Uno perhaps looking for a knockout. Horrible takedown by Uno or perhaps it was just good defense by Toombs which made him look bad. Toombs fails to land the takedown. Uno misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Uno closes the distance looking to clinch and Toombs counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Uno! Uno looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Uno is trying to escape the mount.
Uno really wants to buck Toombs off and get back to his feet. Toombs working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Uno's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Toombs takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Toombs is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Toombs!
