Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rico Van-Plant (ranked 3527 p4p, 23734 weight class) and Blade Wolf (ranked 408 p4p, 611 weight class). Rico Van-Plant has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rico Van-Plant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Blade Wolf! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van-Plant tries to close the distance and clinch but Wolf swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Van-Plant looks to clinch and Wolf counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Van-Plant looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Van-Plant clinches with his opponent.

Wolf throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Van-Plant blocks it with crossed arms. Wolf with a knee to the head.
Van-Plant has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wolf after a bit of a struggle. Wolf is stalling here.
Van-Plant is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wolf to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rico Van-Plant. That's going to take a lot out of him. A short uppercut from Wolf. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wolf goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Van-Plant drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Van-Plant jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Wolf controlling Van-Plant's posture. Wolf controls Van-Plant momentarily but Van-Plant frees himself. Wolf is adopting a defensive guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wolf controls Van-Plant momentarily but Van-Plant frees himself. Van-Plant has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Wolf is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Wolf seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Van-Plant is looking to clinch but Wolf is avoiding it.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Van-Plant checks a leg kick. Van-Plant shoots in looking for a takedown. Wolf tries to sprawl out of it but Van-Plant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wolf manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. A leg kick checked by Van-Plant. Some bone on bone action there as Van-Plant checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Wolf throws a big shot that misses. Van-Plant closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wolf quickly recovers to half guard. Van-Plant wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Van-Plant is looking for a kimura but Wolf is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Van-Plant to get the leverage. Wolf trying to hold on to Van-Plant's head to control him but Van-Plant postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Van-Plant wants to work for an arm triangle but Wolf is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Van-Plant will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Van-Plant seems to be working for a kimura but Wolf defends the submission attempt. Van-Plant is thwarting Wolf's attempts to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Wolf preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Blade Wolf dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Wolf tries to score with a low kick but Van-Plant moves his leg out of the way. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Wolf connects with a leg kick. Wolf wants to slow Van-Plant down by chopping away at his legs. Wolf misses with a wild combination.

The fight stays on the outside here - Van-Plant looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Van-Plant shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Van-Plant was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Wolf struggling a bit here. Van-Plant tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wolf struggling a bit here.

Van-Plant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Van-Plant tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Van-Plant has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Van-Plant is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wolf knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wolf is trying to control Van-Plant's posture but Van-Plant avoids it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Van-Plant throws a strike aimed at the side of Wolf's head but Wolf avoids it well. Wolf struggling a bit here. Van-Plant is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wolf is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Van-Plant tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Van-Plant has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Van-Plant working away. Rico Van-Plant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Van-Plant is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wolf has escaped the position, nice work there. Van-Plant tries to stand but Wolf is controlling his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wolf struggling a bit here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Van-Plant is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Wolf is trying to escape and Van-Plant transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Wolf is forced to tap! Nice work there by Van-Plant! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rico Van-Plant! After winning the bout, Rico Van-Plant thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
