PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 5741 p4p, 25403 weight class) and Helen Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Helen Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga darts in looking for a takedown but Salvacion gets double underhooks and turns Amiga into the cage.
Salvacion prevents a takedown attempt there.

Salvacion has clasped his hands together around Amiga's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is trying to control Salvacion's posture but Salvacion avoids it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salvacion pinned against the cage. Salvacion gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.

Amiga shoots in and bounces Salvacion off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Salvacion wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Amiga slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Helen Salvacion dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Salvacion stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Salvacion wants it to stay on the feet.
Salvacion has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Amiga counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Amiga fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion avoids it really well and circles away.

Salvacion shoots in looking for a takedown. Amiga tries to sprawl out of it but Salvacion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Amiga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salvacion but Salvacion pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agbay Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion drives through with a takedown into Amiga's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Salvacion working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Salvacion's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Salvacion slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Amiga is pulling down on Salvacion's head. It's preventing any offense from Salvacion, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Amiga stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvacion. Salvacion gets slowly back to his feet.

Amiga gets the takedown into side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Agbay Amiga will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Salvacion is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Amiga seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Amiga shoots in but no luck this time.
Salvacion tries a quick counter leg kick but Amiga is wise to it.
Amiga shoots in and drives through. Salvacion sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Agbay Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Amiga shoots in for a double leg but Salvacion sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Helen Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
