PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Minatay Mibangon (ranked 5862 p4p, 6036 weight class) and Walay Buut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Minatay Mibangon has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Minatay Mibangon seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Minatay Mibangon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walay Buut!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Buut shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mibangon as he avoids it easily.
Mibangon looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.

Buut shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Buut was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Buut happy to just control the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Buut has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Buut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yet more stalling tactics from Buut.
Both fighters take a look at the clock.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Buut feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Buut won't allow Mibangon to sweep him here.
Mibangon is pulling down on Buut's head to control his posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Buut sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Buut stands and steps away. Mibangon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Buut looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mibangon tries to sprawl but Buut drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Buut not doing much here.
Mibangon keeps control of the position for the meantime.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Walay Buut dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Buut shoots in for a takedown but Mibangon shows good takedown defense.
Mibangon thinks about countering with a body kick.
Buut closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mibangon circles away.
Buut has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mibangon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mibangon wants it to stay on the feet.
Mibangon appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Minatay Mibangon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.
Mibangon shoots in and drives through. Buut sprawls well.
Buut steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Buut enables Mibangon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Buut manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Walay Buut has got the better of the ground game so far.
Buut trying to keep a closed guard but Mibangon is proving a slippery customer.

Mibangon postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mibangon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Buut tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Buut is adopting a defensive guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Buut closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mibangon quickly recovers to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mibangon is trying is best to control the position here.
Buut slows the pace down in half guard.
Buut not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mibangon blocking the ground and pound attempt from Buut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mibangon controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Buut controlling the pace.
Mibangon is positioning himself well to prevent Buut advancing to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Buut fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mibangon jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Walay Buut will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Buut won't allow Mibangon to sweep him here.

Buut closes the distance and clinches up with Mibangon, looking for a takedown. Buut pushes Mibangon against the cage but Mibangon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mibangon thinks about countering with a body kick.
Buut shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mibangon quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Mibangon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buut tries to avoid it but Mibangon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buut to the ground. Buut escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Buut shoots in looking for a takedown but Mibangon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Buut's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mibangon thinks about countering with a body kick.
Minatay Mibangon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walay Buut.

Buut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mibangon sprawls well initially but Buut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mibangon keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Buut controlling the pace.
Mibangon tries to get to full guard but Buut has control of the leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mibangon is doing well to control the position and prevent Buut from advancing to side control.
Mibangon continues to stall.
Minatay Mibangon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Walay Buut is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mibangon wants to control but Buut is keeping busy.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Walay Buut comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Buut winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
