Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jacob Handler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pluot Montero!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Montero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Montero is trying to control. Handler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Handler is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Montero is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Montero not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Handler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Handler tries to get out of the position.
Handler blocking the ground and pound attempt from Montero.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montero wants to stand up but Handler is controlling the position.
Montero controlling the action here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Montero wants to work for an arm triangle but Handler is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Handler is trying is best to control the position here.
Handler has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Montero dives in for a single leg takedown but Handler sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Montero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Handler swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Montero drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Handler is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You can see the frustration on Handler's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Montero trying to control the position but Handler is working away.

Montero is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Handler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Handler is not content to let Montero control the position.
Montero happy to just control the position for now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Handler on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Handler holds on to Montero's head and controls the position momentarily.
Montero tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Handler is not content to let Montero control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Montero decides to stand up, so the ref orders Handler to his feet.
Montero throws a half hearted mid kick.
Nice takedown defense from Handler. No joy for Montero on that attempt.
Montero shoots in but Handler avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jacob Handler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pluot Montero.
Handler stuffs the takedown.
Handler appears to be looking for a big counter.
Montero walks into a stiff left hand from Handler.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Handler fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Montero looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Handler smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Handler lands a jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Handler will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Montero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Montero takes one on the button.

Montero is rocked!
Montero tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Handler manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Montero tries for a takedown but Handler circles away easily
and Handler counters with a nice uppercut.
Montero is still on wobbly legs! Can Handler finish him?
Handler keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Handler fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Montero square on the jaw! Damn, Montero is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jacob Handler!
After winning the bout, Jacob Handler thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
