Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Saxon Byrd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tam Yu Tai!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Byrd misses with a leg kick
and Yu Tai connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A solid leg kick lands there for Yu Tai.
A slapping leg kick lands for Yu Tai.
Yu Tai is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Byrd.
Yu Tai misses with a jab to the body
and Byrd counters with an inside leg kick.
Byrd pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Byrd blocks a jab.
A little feinted left hand from Byrd on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Byrd throws a body punch but Yu Tai moves out of range.
Yu Tai throws a shot from downtown. Byrd moves away and avoids it.
Byrd was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Yu Tai misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Byrd takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Yu Tai connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Byrd takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Yu Tai catches Byrd with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Yu Tai is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Yu Tai connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Yu Tai walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Byrd drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Yu Tai swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Byrd's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tam Yu Tai!
During a confident post fight interview, Tam Yu Tai thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
