PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Victor Alexander (ranked 4463 p4p, 2705 weight class) and Dusty Sleeth (ranked 437 p4p, 309 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dusty Sleeth was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Victor Alexander !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dusty Sleeth!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander connects with a high kick.
Sleeth misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sleeth throws a body shot but no joy.
Sleeth looks for a takedown but Alexander sprawls well.

Alexander moves into range and clinches up with Sleeth.
Alexander misses with an elbow over the top.
Sleeth fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Victor Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dusty Sleeth.
Sleeth goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alexander prevents it.
Alexander prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sleeth manages to pull guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Sleeth is on top in guard.

Sleeth with a nice head shot there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sleeth stops Alexander from standing up.
Alexander wants to get back to his feet but Sleeth passes into half guard.
Sleeth is nestled in close to Alexander , controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Alexander tries to kick Sleeth off but Sleeth keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sleeth lands with a punch from half guard.
Sleeth prevents Alexander from standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sleeth in particular looking to stall.
Alexander is trying to stand up here but Sleeth is controlling him well.
Sleeth working Alexander over with strikes.
Sleeth has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sleeth trying to control the pace.
It looks like Sleeth might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Alexander 's coaches at Canucks Combat Club have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alexander pushes Sleeth off but Sleeth dives into side control.
Alexander pushes Sleeth away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Sleeth gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sleeth controls the position from side control.
Sleeth is working Alexander over with some ground and pound from side control.
Sleeth prevents Alexander from escaping the position.
The referee asks Sleeth politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sleeth prefers to stall for the moment though.
Sleeth landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Sleeth scores with a couple of short elbows.

Sleeth tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Alexander really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sleeth lands some shots froms side control.
Sleeth scores with a couple of short elbows.
Sleeth working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Alexander takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Sleeth cracks Alexander with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Alexander is rocked!
Sleeth is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Alexander will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Oh Alexander is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Check out the look on Sleeth's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Sleeth working the ground and pound.
Sleeth cracks Alexander with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Sleeth immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Alexander is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Sleeth!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dusty Sleeth!
